The connection is right there--just at the edge. I think the knitting goes with this book I just got.
I have always been fascinated by the eternity element in the Celtic Design. I can see how that relates to cable work in knitting. They even relate geographically, and I suspect, historically and therefore culturally. Lately I have been turning around the idea of how cables or Celtic design relate to basketry. Before we moved, I sent a boxfull of basket work to the local charity shop and some of the baskets were my early attempts to connect the woven and fiber aspect with the knotwork and cable design. Wish I had photographed them before I let them go.
