 The leaves are mostly brown with a few reds left. The yellows are just about all gone.

Here is my name badge that I did for Misty Mountain Quilt Guild. The name part is on little beads in a semi circle in the upper left. The pin in that semi circle is the official guild pin.  The red ribbon in the lower left signifies that I helped at the 2011 Quilt Fest. The dangles are from my first shop hop. I got a charm for every shop I hopped. I was supposed to make a Moon-Over-The-Mountain square but I, of course, did it my way. This picture really does not do justice to the fabric and the hand quilting I did. I will try to get another photo of it later.

Leaves against the sky. Who says blue and brown do not "go together"?

What a lovely day this was--just before a few days of snow.

In the picture below, see how the leaves take on the look of fine grained leather?

The shift in the saturation of the blue really brings in the greyed, lichen covered branch.

Today has a sky like this one, but everything is covered in 6 inches of snow!


It is hard to get warm again after going out with the dog but homemade pumpkin soup with HOT SAUCE sure helps...

One of the views from my porch...my world is so lovely right now, it is difficult to do any knitting at all in the car. I have been training myself to knit without looking at my work the best I can. Markers help me when it is time to switch stitches. My fingers are not smart enough yet to notice the difference in the stitches. Look again tomorrow to see my final hat for the USS DECATUR. I will mail out the last batch Wednesday. At last glance on Shanti's blog, her mother reported 100 hats! Some were part acrylic so they will probably be given to a mission or homeless shelter since armed services people can only have natural fibers.

Yay!!! Trees are changing! Can't wait for the maples and the poplars. The maples are starting to go yellow. Only the sourwoods are red.

9.15.10

One or two reddish leaves on the maples. The lovely cool weather a couple of weeks back did not stay lovely. It was quite hot last week but somewhat cooler the past two days. Nice. Going to try to hold out on turning on the heat as long as possible. I have all of my knitted mitts at the ready.

Piecing together North Shore, now that the sleeves are done and blocked. I still have the problem with one half the back considerably larger than the other. Guess I will try to "ease to fit" and then make sure I note it on the pattern. I am knitting away steadily on the new(er) grapey purple Ann Norling pullover. Maybe it will be done by Sunday.

Planning to visit HMHC, if she is receiving.

Sourwood leaves are beginning to turn. Some of the poplars have yellow leaves. I will look for some maples today.
