Close up of Hawaiian Orchids

I saw a lot of lovely quilts at the recent show. Here is one by a woman whose work I admire.

Blue Ribbon Hawaiian Applique by Louise Macdonald

This was the first quilt I photographed. You can see from the whole quilt that its two color composition is very eye-catching. 

It is a traditional  Hawaiian applique, and the detail in the first photo shows that Louise MacDonald is a very skilled needlewoman. This is HAND appliqued, and HAND quilted.

She said friends "gifted" the quilt to her when they saw the kit for sale because they said it had  her "name on it". How wonderful to have friends who know you so well, Louise. How beautiful your quilt has made my day today.
